Join SF Fun Raisers and Opportunity Impact for the first ever fundraising event of its kinds in the Bay Area.
Our beneficiary, partner nonprofit, Opportunity Impact, just opened its doors in the heart of the Western Addition neighborhood of San Francisco and they need our help!!! They are a new organization with a fresh approach to creating sustainable life changes for children growing up in public housing. The participants in their program are high-risk youth who live in these developments, and who have little or no access to other support services. Right now, the kids that they serve walk to and from the Opportunity Impact center and are exposed and are witnesses to the dangers in their neighborhood. That is why we are joining forces, and asking all of you, to help purchase a "Kid Mobile" van that will provide safe transportation for the local youths. So please join and support us for the 1st Annual Charity Cornhole Tournament at the Marina Green!
What better way to spend an Indian summer Saturday in San Francisco than playing cornhole, bbq'ing, and hanging out with new and old friends!!!. (The SF Fun Raisers Grill Masters will be on hand again grilling those tasty burgers and hot dogs!)
Now, some of you may be asking yourself, “What is cornhole?”
It has been called many things, Corn Toss, Bags, Bean Bag Toss, and Soft Horseshoes, but to those who originated the game in the area of northern Kentucky and the southern part of Ohio, the game is passionately referred to as Cornhole.
Cornhole or Corn Toss is similar to horseshoes except you use wooden boxes called cornhole platforms and corn bags instead of horseshoes and metal stakes. Contestants take turns pitching their corn bags at the cornhole platform until a contestant reaches the score of 21 points. A corn bag in the hole scores 3 points, while one on the platform scores 1 point. Cornhole Tournaments are extremely popular in the Midwest, but the game of cornhole has been rapidly gaining popularity all around the country. This tournament will be the first organized cornhole tournament in Northern California.

Opportunity Impact recognizes that life skills and education are the keys to providing new opportunities and a better future for young people.
Located in the heart of the Western Addition, they work with youth living in public housing developments who may be at risk of violence.
Their five year program starts with students in grade 4, working with them through the critical formative years until grade 8. Opportunity Impact believes that life change and self-fulfillment are possible only when a program's intervention addresses the whole child.
The comprehensive program is organized around three core components -- life skills, academics and enrichment.
